Keep your skin soft this winter ♡ My thoughts on body lotion ♡

Hello my lovely readers! How are you? I hope you’re great! Today I wanted to talk about dry skin, and mention some of my body lotions (including drugstore ones) so if you’ve been suffering with dry skin this winter, keep reading! Before we start, I wanted to let you know I just hit 100 followers this week! Thank you so much for your support!! Also, I wanted to mention this lovely song that I’ve been obsessed with. Anyways, let’s get started!

♡ What is my skin like? My skin is dry, but not very dry. If I forget to put on lotion one day, it won’t get patchy and rough, but I do keep a daily moisturizing routine, because I find it really uncomfortable to spend the day with drier skin. However, I don’t feel the need to apply body butters, because my skin is really not that dry.

♡ What do I look for in a body lotion? I like my lotions to have a creamy consistency, not fluid but also not buttery. I like them so have a pleasant scent and practical packaging, I specially like the ones with a pump. I like my lotions to sink into my skin quickly (about 5 minutes) and to last me at least for one whole day. There is no need for me to have a very long lasting one because I will shower and remove it anyways, I just like to have comfortable, soft skin when I wake up the next morning.

♡ What lotions am I testing at the moment? Right now I am using Vaseline (vasenol) cocoa radiant, sephora coconut milk, rituals mandarin delight, the body shop vineyard peach and dove indulgent nourishment.

♡ How would I describe each one in terms of consistency? The lotions from vaseline, rituals and dove have a creamy consistency that I really like. The body shop one has a whipped, smoothie-like consistency, and the sephora one is a very fluid, runny consistency.

♡ How would I describe each one in terms of moisture? The least moisturizing one has to be the sephora one. It does make my skn soft but the consistency is too light so it feels a lot less hydrating. The body shop one feels light too, but I do feel it working. Vaseline and rituals are very similar in terms of moisture, they work the best for me on a daily basis. For very dry skin, the dove one does wonders! It not only moisturizes, it also repairs my skin deeply, so it’s better for the winter time.

♡ Do any of these lotions have repairing properties besides moisturizing properties? Yes, like I mentioned, the dove one gradually renews the skin and makes it softer. After about two weeks of using this lotion, my skin, that used to be dry whenever I didn’t moisturize it, has never felt like that again. If I don’t apply a lotion in the morning, my skin doesn’t feel soft, but I can’t feel the dryness at all. This is the best lotion for very dry skin, it does wonders for my legs, specially!

♡ What do they smell like? The vaseline one has the worst scent, in my opinion. It’s supposed to be cocoa butter scented, but I don’t like it at all! I still use it, because I like the formula, but the scent is a big no for me. A lot of people like it, though, so it might just be a personal preference! The coconut one from sephora smells amazingly tropical and sweet. The rituals one has a very relaxing, minty scent whit a hint of citrus. The peach one smells like peach yogurt, it’s my favorite scent from all! And the dove one has a very subtle shea butter scent, that I also really like!

♡ What type of packaging do I prefer? I like the bottles with pumps, but all the other ones work fine for me!

♡ What are my overall thoughts? I like the formula of the vaseline cocoa radiant, but the scent is not my thing, so I won’t be re-purchasing. I love the sephora one because of the tropical scent, but I find it too thin for me. It’s better for the summer time. I love everything about the rituals one, that’s a definite re-purchase! The body shop one has an amazing scent, and even tough the consistency is thinner, I find this lotion moisturizing enough for me, but maybe not enough for drier skins. I will buy this again, because I love the scent so much! The dove indulgent nourishment is, in my opinion, the most repairing and moisturizing, and I definitely recommend that you try it out this winter!

That will be it my lovelies! Have a nice weekend! ♡♡♡ lulu

  1. Great post! I recently got the Rituals Cool Dragon body gel and its the best body moisturiser I have ever used. I’m going to review it on my blog because I think every man should have this in their bathroom. I really like the Ritual products! :-)
